I take commissions throughout the UK and worldwide. All I need is a clear photograph. Digital photographs can be sent by email or messenger through Facebook. Digital photos are preferred as I can zoom in to get all finer detail within facial features, fur colour and direction of fur. I have also completed commissions using printed photographs which have been equally successful when clear and close up. I also offer a photography service if you live locally and would prefer assistance capturing a photograph of your furry friend for the portrait. This service is provided for an additional fee for travel and up to 1 hour of time with your pet/equine taking photographs until we have a photo which captures them for the portrait.
Taking the photograph
1. If possible use a digital camera. If using a mobile phone camera please download the photo and check when you zoom in or enlarge it that you can see detail and that it is not blurred. I will always be honest about photographs provided as I want you to love your portrait and a good reference photograph is really important as I may never have met your friend.
2. Take the photographs down at the level of the animal so that they are face on and ensure all their features are in the photograph including ears, sides of head and neck. Take lots! They can easily be deleted. When I take photos for clients there are usually a couple of good ones between the camera licks, steamed up lens and turning away.
Tip: If you can get someone to stand behind you with a treat (not to the side or they will look away and you will get more hand and treat shots than animal photos!) they should then be looking towards you and the camera. Also try not to stand in bright light which will effect fur colours.
If your pet/equine is no longer with you, we can have a look at your existing photographs to ensure you have a reference picture we can use.
